Berth sales on the Côte d’Azur

Berth sales on the Côte d’Azur

After a 13-year career spent managing and selling boats moved organically into the berthing arena, and following her time at Northrop and Johnson, Jo Long made the jump to setting up her own company Zen Yachting in 2015.

With a focus on selling berths between 15-60 metres plus, Jo is a familiar face around the quays and her vast Riviera network means she is called on to give ex-pert guidance to new and seasoned yacht owners.

Yacht Berths at Port Vauban & on the French Riviera

The berth sales market has been further boosted recently as the traditional 50-year leasehold contracts, which began in 1972, expired at the beginning of 2022 seeing the start of the new leases known as Guarantee of Use Contracts (CGU). Three years after the CCI (Chambre de commerce et d’industrie) took over Port Vauban, there’s now options for five, 10 and 21-year berth leases which can be bought directly or via Jo at Zen Yachting.

The signing up to buy the new Port Vauban leases which started on January 2022 has proven how owners really feel at home in their chosen zones on different quays and are very reluctant to move elsewhere. “Since I started, I’ve sold over 80 berths in Port Vauban, half of which have been through Zen Yachting,” says Jo. “Some berths I’ve sold three times over, each time they come back on the market. I have sold to one client five times.”

The Mole Sud Quay, centrally located at Port Vauban, is the most popular quay, with great accessibility to car parking and close proximity to Antibes old town. Logistically, it’s also convenient to get fuel and provisions delivered easily. However, Jo is familiar with the benefits for all yacht quays and berths for sale and is happy to have a conversation about what owners want.

“Port Vauban has a lovely tranquil feel to it despite being in the middle of the French Riviera; you have great views and it has easy access to St Tropez, Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Lérins Islands. Ideally, I like to meet people in person to show them around and perhaps even take them to look at other ports I deal with, including Port Gallice in Juan les Pins, Camille Rayon at Golfe Juan, and Cannes and walk them through the entire process. I can also advise on technical matters too.”
